Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stated on Friday that no efforts will be spared until the complete restoration of the National Energy System is achieved, following the disconnection of the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant that occurred in the morning.
“We are committed to working with precision, dedication, and persistence until everything is restored,” emphasized the president during a follow-up meeting regarding actions to restore electricity service across the country.
Díaz-Canel also warned that, while the emergency will be resolved, a certain level of energy deficit may persist. However, he assured that efforts will continue to reduce this deficit compared to what had been experienced in previous days.
In his address, the president condemned the U.S. blockade policy, which has intensified financial and energy persecution against Cuba. “There is no clearer evidence of the blockade than the situation we are currently facing,” he remarked.
During the meeting with leaders from the Ministry of Energy and Mines, it was reported that efforts are underway to supply energy to thermoelectric plants and that minimal generation has been achieved in nearly all provinces.
The president also acknowledged the discipline and trust of the Cuban people in their authorities to overcome this energy crisis, underscoring the importance of keeping the population informed through all available communication channels. Additionally, he directed that priority be given to essential services.
While the energy situation remains complicated, gradual restoration is being achieved. Both the government and officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mines reaffirm their commitment to work tirelessly to resolve the crisis.
